Powering high-brightness LEDs from the mains
16 July 2009
Harvard Engineering has introduced the Cool-LED switchable LED driver. Part of the CoolPower range, it is a high performance system for powering high-brightness LEDs from a mains supply. The high efficiency design ensures cool operation and long life, whilst the compact enclosure is available with screw-less cable clamps for fast assembly.
The well regulated output current will typically power a series string of between 3 and 12 LEDs, with a 1W to 3W rating up to a combined voltage of 48V. Current level can be selected during installation and there are versions which can be switched between current levels via Presence Detectors or an external switch. The Class II driver delivers up to 33W of power (string of 3-12 LEDs), with surge protection up to 4kV.
