IP67 Safety-Installation for machine tools from Murrelektronik

02 September 2015

With the compact IP67 module MVK Metal from Murrelektronik, safety inputs and outputs can be connected directly to a Siemens Sinumerik 849D SL Profinet CNC.

Safety data from various safety components like emergency buttons, safety light curtains and sensors are sent directly to the controller via the protocol, avoiding the need for a passive wiring in the control cabinet. Using Profinet/Profisafe ensures that safety-related data is transferred reliably. With MVK Metal Safety high safety standards (SIL3 and PLe) can be fulfilled even without a safety controller (F-PLC).

MVK Metal monitors for errors such as overload, sensor short circuits or wire breaks on each individual channel. An LED indicates which port is affected and the error data is sent to the controller (Siemens Sinumerik in this case). The advantage with the single channel diagnostic path is that it ensures only the affected channel is switched off.
