MapleSim library enables modeling of pneumatics systems

27 May 2016

Maplesoft announced the release of the MapleSim Pneumatics Library from Modelon, a new add-on component library to MapleSim.

This library can be used in the modeling and simulation of pneumatic systems for system design, component sizing, and control design, with applications that include construction equipment, machine design, and commercial vehicle design.

With the MapleSim Pneumatics Library from Modelon, engineers access the powerful, industry-tested component library from Modelon in the MapleSim environment, allowing them to take advantage of MapleSim’s modern approach to physical modeling and simulation. Using MapleSim and the pneumatics library, engineers can dramatically reduce model development and analysis time and produce fast, high-fidelity simulations of their system-level models involving pneumatics.

With the new library, engineers can choose from over 100 components to model cylinders, motors, valves, nozzles, lumped volumes, lines, and sensors. For advanced applications, they can customise and extend components as needed. Because this library is fully integrated into MapleSim, engineers can also access the underlying system equations for advanced analysis, parameter optimisation, and visualisation, and generate highly efficient, royalty-free simulation code suitable for real-time and in-the-loop simulations.

The MapleSim Pneumatics Library from Modelon is the latest add-on component library in the MapleSim family, which also includes specialised libraries for battery, tire, and driveline modeling, as well as the MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon. Modelon is a leading provider of component libraries that use the Modelica open standard for describing physical models and components. Modelica libraries are open, modifiable, and extendable, and are intended for use by multiple modeling and simulation products.

“The MapleSim Pneumatics Library is a good example of why Maplesoft supports the Modelica standard,” says Laurent Bernardin, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist, Maplesoft. “By making Modelica foundational to MapleSim, our customers can benefit from the work done by Modelon to create high fidelity models of pneumatics systems. Companies that adopt the Modelica open standard enable their customers to efficiently combine products and expertise from a variety of sources, so they can leverage the best tools for their needs and achieve their own goals more easily.”

MapleSim Pneumatics Library from Modelon is available for both the English and Japanese versions of MapleSim.
