Herga announces upgraded materials for bellows controls range

Herga Technology has begun a major program to replace the PVC materials used across its range of single- and multi-pedal foot and hand operated bellows with tougher, more flexible and environmentally friendly TPU.
The change, which will be rolled out over the next few months, takes advantage of the many advantages offered by TPU for the flexible bellows components as well as the connection tubing. TPU’s physical strength and elasticity, its environmentally friendliness and recyclability were major factors in the decision to change. Herga will also be replacing all PVC bellows bases with moulded ABS which offers increased durability.
The decision to remove PVC materials follows Herga’s continuous improvement philosophy. When comparing TPU with PVC, its increased abrasion resistance, improved chemical resistance, and better UV resistance were major factors that contribute to long life. The odourless material also has a more luxury feel with further advantages such as extended low temperature range and better suitability for REACH.
Herga bellows controls include single- or multi-pedal foot and hand actuated designs as free standing or panel mount controls. The range is characterised by ease of operation, ergonomic design and flexibility for use across industrial and medical applications where safe switching of electrical devices is paramount. The bellows are complemented with a wide choice of air to electric pressure switches covering momentary and latching relay action for a wide range of AC and DC voltages.
Bellows and air switches are just a part of Herga’s comprehensive range of switching and sensing solutions which include electrical foot switches and hand controls, Bluetooth Smart closed network and USB controls for general purpose to heavy industrial duty use, and medically approved IEC and UL 60601-1 switches.
