Production system for rapid manufacturing

01 November 2007

3D Systems, a provider of 3D modelling, rapid prototyping and manufacturing applications, has introduced its V-Flash HA 230 Production System for the Rapid Manufacturing of custom hearing aid shells and moulds at the 2007 International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians in Nuremberg, Germany, from October 17-19, 2007.

Dreve Otoplastik, an earmould and materials manufacturer, has developed biocompatible materials specifically for the V-Flash HA 230 Production System to enhance and provide high-quality hearing aid shell production capabilities to customers. Dreve Otoplastik is the worldwide distributor for these systems. During the Nuremberg exhibition, 3D Systems held multiple demonstrations for the benefit of all major hearing aid manufacturers, showcasing its integrated Dreve materials on the V-Flash HA 230 System. This system uses the same proprietary Film Transfer Imaging (FTI) technology that 3D Systems developed for its V-Flash Desktop 3D Modellers.

“We are proud and honoured to present the brand new V-Flash System at our booth at the EUHA 2007,” said Dr. Volker Dreve, president of Dreve. “The availability of the V-Flash unit, together with our FotoFlash material, will make Rapid Manufacturing a reality in the growing hearing aid market. I believe this system will set the state-of-the-art standard regarding quality, speed and affordability.”

“We are pleased with the enthusiastic response that we received during this event from major players within the hearing aid industry on our new desktop manufacturing system,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and chief executive officer.
