Sporty and eco-friendly e-bike makes evolution in design

01 September 2016

E-voluzione is the first electric bike from Pininfarina developed from a holistic design philosophy; all the main parts are neatly integrated in the bike.

E-voluzione is the result of a partnership between Pininfarina and Diavelo, a member of the Accell Group. The partnership combines Pininfarina’s knowledge in designing sporty cars and finding eco-friendly solutions with Diavelo’s expertise in bike technology.

The key part of the bike design is its integration. All the main parts are integrated into the bike; the battery, the mid-engine, the handlebar and stem, the cockpit, all the cables and the lighting system. The advantage of a high level of integration of all components is not only aesthetic but also functional because it means a better weight distribution and balance and a more comfortable and performing ride.

Due to the use of carbon in the frame and in the parts (bar, seat post, wheels), the bike is super light compared to most of the competition on the market (only 16kg). The carbon frame is realised with an innovative technology (autoclave carbon) and the advantage of the lightness is a bike more manoeuvrable and more performing.

There is also strong innovation in the motor and transmission. The high torque German Brose mid-motor is fully integrated with the carbon frame. The belt drive transmission warrants a silent drive with no maintenance. The patented, inside the frame Panasonic battery (500W-13.6A-36V) is fully integrated and easily removable for re-charge. The bike is completed by hydraulic disc brakes and Shimano components.

The new Pininfarina electric sports bike will be offered in three different lines; Elegance, Hi-Tech and Dynamic.
