New development kits provide IoT lighting for all

23 November 2016

Gooee released its first Development Kits to lighting manufacturers on the opening morning of LuxLive 2016, giving them the ability to integrate their lighting products with IoT enabling technology.

Feilo Sylvania, Aurora Lighting and John Cullen Lighting received their Kits at LuxLive 2016’s IoT Arena, and the expectation is for Gooee-Inside products to become available for consumers in 2017.

Each Dev Kit provides an OEM with access to Gooee’s IoT Gateway, Wireless Interface Module (WIM) development boards – the link between the Gooee Cloud and hardware – smart sensors, Application Process Interface (API) keys – for enhanced security – and entry to Gooee’s portal.

In connecting to the Gooee Cloud and integrating its smart-hardware, OEMs can drive down end-user’s costs with enhanced lighting control, complete energy management services, LED analytics that highlights inefficiencies, and direct marketing through beacon management.
Bastiaan de Groot, Global Director Strategy and New Business Development at Feilo Sylvania, says clients are no longer just looking at luminaires for their output or efficiency: “The demand is for occupancy data,” he says. “We want to provide our customers with this valuable data and that is why we have chosen to partner with exciting new start-ups such as Gooee, who adds its skill set to our business while improving our customer offering.”

Peter van der Kolk, Chief Executive Officer at John Cullen, adds: “It's exciting to receive GOOEE's first hardware components. We see GOOEE's components as enabling technologies to support exploring new intelligent lighting solutions for high-end residential applications.”

Neil Salt, Managing Director of the IoT Division at Aurora Group, emphasises the importance of adding value: “IoT lighting is the next-generation for our industry,” he says. “Gooee’s technology is an enabler for this to happen and ensures we can embrace innovation to further our place at the forefront of the LED lighting market.”

Simon Coombes, CTO and Co-Founder of Gooee, says the Dev Kit’s are yet another stage in realising IoT lighting for all: “The necessity for lighting within most business applications is obvious, and the IoT can capitalise on this to save money in all aspects of a building’s efficiency,” he says. “With the Dev Kits now in the OEMs hand, it won’t be long before the market can realise its true potential.”
