Modern mobile barriers help fight floods

27 June 2017

The tubewall and the boxwall from NOAQ are innovative mobile protective barriers which can be used instead of sandbags to protect against floods.

The barriers are very lightweight; they weigh less than one percent of sandbags but are still 100 percent effective. According to the NOAQ website, a 50cm high barrier weighs no more than 3.5kg per running metre.

Both are designed so they are automatically anchored by the weight of the flood water. They can be deployed and removed quickly and reused. As they are so light and handy, they can be constructed by the people closely affected by the flood.

NOAQ’s products are based on Swedish and international patents. They have been developed in cooperation with the Swedish Rescue Services Agency and with users in different countries.

The barriers are available in more than ten countries.
