Bench-Top Machines Simplify Insert Installation

01 May 2004

Fitsco Industries has introduced three insert installation machines that
simplify the insertion of Fitsco branded products and improve their
finished appearance. The Flexfit (illustrated) is a spring-loaded
pneumatic arm that is both flexible and manoeuvrable, and capable of
reaching to almost one metre from the pivot. The unit can accommodate up
to three separate arms, enabling fast installation of multi-sized inserts
into one component, with each arm having a dedicated insert size and
preset installation torque.

The Heatfit installs either Fitsco Heatfit or Multifit male or female
inserts, in M1.6 to M6 sizes at depths of 270mm and 370mm, by applying
heat to the insert and maintaining it at a preset temperature
(ambient-500oC range) until insertion is achieved. Finally, a solid and
inexpensive insert press - the Arbour - is suitable for both Pressfit and
Multifit inserts. The device is operated via a rack-and-pinion mechanism
and, according to Fitsco, is maintenance-free.
