Fenner chains and sprocket now distributed nationwide by Wyko

04 February 2008

The re-engineered Fenner PLUS range of chains and sprockets is now available nationwide though Wyko's network of distribution outlets. The solid rollers, manufactured to achieve an extremely high surface hardness, ensure high wear resistance, a feature that guarantees the performance of the chain in hostile environments and ensures long chain life.

Shot peened plates help extend chain life further. This process relieves the stresses that build up during manufacture and reduces the likelihood of fatigue failure in the field. In addition, since the chain plates are punched progressively, hole concentricity and accuracy of both diameter and pitch is maintained along the entire length of the chain. This results in a quiet and accurate mesh with the sprockets, and eases pin extraction when splitting the chain. The chain is delivered pre-tensionedso there is no need for re-tensioning as the chain is bedded in.

All Fenner PLUS chain is wax lubricated so that it can be run straight from the box. Since debris cannot adhere to this dry wax finish, the chain is protected against premature failure. A lubrication free version of Fenner PLUS chain is also available made with sintered bushes that retain lubricant. An added benefit to using sintered bushes is that the chain can operate at linear chain speeds of up to 2.5m/s – more than twice the speed of a composite bush chain.

Fenner PLUS sprockets are available with up to, and including 40 teeth. They are manufactured from C45, a 0.45% plain carbon steel that is well-suited to through-hardening. The flame hardened teeth, which are hardened to just below the tooth root, help improve the chain and sprocket life by up to 50% depending on application.
