LG Motions expands its portfolio with new motion control products
12 September 2017
LG Motion design and manufacture a range of motion control products and systems and work closely with international manufacturers of drive systems and components.
Now in 2017 the company has started to work closely with two German manufacturers of quite diverse motion control products which will bring an exciting new dimension to the capability of the company to provide a suitable motion control solution, whatever the requirements.
baumeister & schack – lifting devices
Founded in 1980 the company, which is located to the south of Stuttgart, baumeister & schack design, develop and manufacture DC motor drive systems and actuation products for diverse applications in the automotive, medical, machine tool and furniture industries.
LG Motion’s Managing Director Gary Livingstone believes that the addition of this innovative range of telescopic lifters opens another opportunity to provide a complete and diverse range of solutions for industrial and scientific applications.
The compact and high rated units play a very important part in improving the ergonomics of the workplace, mainly in manufacturing/workshop equipment but also in many other applications where ergonomic considerations are important.
The main highlight of the range is the industrial lifter Hexalift which is includes a wide range of telescopic lifters in different shapes and lifting capacities. Another product is the slideway lifter which is unique on the market and can be customised to lengths of up to 2,000mm.
Steinmeyer – positioning technology
Steinmeyer Mechatronics is a leading manufacturer of positioning technology products and operates from its factory in Dresden Germany, where it has more than 120 employees. With a heritage stretching back over 140 years Steinmeyer is no new-comer to the industry and the development of its product range through well-proven manufacturing techniques is second to none. The addition of the Steinmeyer range of products will extend the capability of LG Motion and enable it to provide more attractive options to mid-sized OEMs.
Of particular interest are the products designed for applications in vacuum technology.
Positioning items in a vacuum is a particular challenge. Only certain materials, components and lubricants meet the requirements in terms of low gas emissions. Often, it is not possible to use liquid lubricants. The bake-out process also puts a great deal of pressure on the positioning system; the thermal stresses which occur at temperatures up to 140°C must be taken into account. All the parts produced by Steinmeyer are vacuum-compatible, cleaned separately after production and assembled in a clean room. The choice of materials is restricted even further for nonmagnetic systems.
