Cabinet Cooling Without Refrigeration
01 September 2000
An ordinary supply of compressed air is all that is required by Exair’s
new cabinet coolers to maintain a steady temperature within an electrical
enclosure (NEMA 12, 4 and 4X) mounted in a non hazardous area. Available
in the UK from Goodhand, these non-hazardous purge cabinet coolers use a
vortex tube to reduce the temperature of the compressed air to around
-7°C. Under normal conditions, the system maintains a slight positive
pressure within the enclosure; as the temperature rises, a thermostat
energises a solenoid and another shot of cool air is introduced.
