Japanese hypercar hits 0-60mph in under two seconds

19 February 2018

In new video footage, Aspark’s hypercar prototype, the Aspark Owl, has hit 0-60mph in just 1.9 seconds, but will it be a rival to Musk’s Tesla Roadster?

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the makers of the Aspark Owl were pretty confident it would achieve such speeds. Now, video footage has been released proving that it can! Although some remain sceptical as the footage shows the Owl wearing racing slick tyres and there’s a mysterious lack of a speedometer…

Aspark states the car has 430 horsepower, 563lb ft, weighs just 850kg and is powered by a pair of 40kW electric motors. Its lightweight is perhaps what makes it capable of such speed. Its top speed can reach 174mph and it will have a range of 94 miles.

Costing £3 million, only 50 of these cars will be made.
