Oriental Motor have been trading since 1885 when they were founded in Tokyo. The company is now a well-established worldwide business with experience in the development, manufacture and marketing of compact electrical motors and drive systems.
It developed into its current format in 1950 which allowed for a true production line, facilitating rapid production of high-quality products, before arriving in Europe in 1982. The Oriental Motor range of cost-effective and efficient motors fulfils motor needs of products and applications around the world.
Brushed motors vs brushless
One of Oriental Motor’s flagship product ranges is brushless DC (BLDC) motors. These are packed with features and benefits that result in high functionality with great ease of use. They work in a similar way to a servo motor – so the brush, which is the weak point of a brushed DC motor, is not required. A brush wears out or needs replacing and without that, the motor is more or less maintenance-free and so has a longer lifespan. There are no electrical contacts to wear, little noise or heat variation because of the lack of friction from the brush, increased reliability, higher torque to weight ratio, no ionising sparks from the commutator and they are hugely reliable.
