Top tips for UV curing
02 September 2019
Originally introduced in the 1960s, UV curing technology has streamlined adhesive applications in many manufacturing industries.
With new UV curing technologies emerging over the last few years, there are more equipment choices and process considerations than ever before. Here Peter Swanson, Managing Director at Intertronics, gives his top tips for getting the best from your UV curing process.
UV light curable adhesives, coatings, encapsulants, potting compounds, temporary masking material and form-in-place gaskets cure in seconds on exposure to light energy, usually a combination of long wave UV and visible light. They can optimise assembly speed, increase product throughput and enable 100 percent in-line inspection. However, to make the most of the benefits that UV curing offers, it’s important to optimise the process.
