Video: Tesla is building ventilators using car parts

06 April 2020

In a video released on 5 April, Tesla staff demonstrate how they are using car parts to build ventilators that will aid COVID-19 patients.

In this video, several members of Tesla walk you through the lab where they are designing and testing the ventilators.

They state that they wanted to use parts they knew really well and that they know are reliable, which is why the design is heavily based on Tesla car parts.

The design is powered by the Model 3’s infotainment system and, according to The Verge, also uses a part from the Model S’s suspension system. This should, in theory, help fast-track the development and manufacturing process of the ventilators as these parts are available in large volumes.
