Design software supports advance into long span market

29 January 2009

SCI has developed Cell-Vibe 1.0 design software on behalf of Westok, providing design engineers with an easy-to-use and rapid evaluation of the dynamic response of floors plates utilising Westok long span products, Cellbeams and USFBs.

Based on the very latest technical research from SCI, the software utilises the 'simplified method' for the evaluation of the dynamic response of regular grid floors, as featured in SCI's ground-breaking 2007 publication P354 Design of Floors for Vibration: A New Approach'.

Suitable for up to 6x6 bay rectilinear grid arrangements, Cell-Vibe includes provision for metal deck, in situ concrete and PC unit slabs. In addition, beam, slab and UDL data can be imported from Cellbeam or USFB software.

CellVibe 1.0 is the latest in a suite of software designed, tested and maintained by SCI for Westok, which includes Cellbeam 7.0 and USFB 1.0.

James Way, Engineering Software's manager, comments: "Written in accordance with P354, the Design Guide on the Vibration of floors, users are assured of confidently calculating a floor's critical response factor based on the very latest technical research from SCI."

Kevan Wilson, Westok's commercial manager, adds: "Once again, SCI worked in partnership with Westok, bringing its software and engineering expertise to the fore and designing a highly credible piece of software that supports the most cost-efficient and appropriate use of our products."
