Wireless communications for hazardous areas

22 July 2009

The new TO-PASS Ex Box from Wago uses Bluetooth and GSM/GPRS networks to ensure high performance and cost effective monitoring of wireless Ex stations. This all-in-one ATEX II 2G IIB T4 certified system eliminates the need for cables and connects to I/O signals from Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous areas.

All components are encapsulated in a pressure-resistant housing. The system is equipped with 2-port Ethernet controller, 2-channel relay output module for warning lights, 4-channel analogue input module (4-20mA), two serial interface cards and EMBT 2.2 ORI Bluetooth module.

The TO-PASS product provides connection for both hard-wired and wireless signals. The controller and GPRS router transmit data to a web server which is able to provide fast data access from any location within a GSM network. The EMBT 2.2 Bluetooth Module receives signals from up to seven external Bluetooth sensors.
