12 February 2010

Foremost Electronics is now supplying the Elma E37 range of dual concentric encoders, which are available with a standard resolution of 16 or 32 detents and may be specified with an integrated push button for menu selection. They provide good indexing feel, with 0.5, 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5Ncm switching torque, and have an operational life of up to 1,000,000 revolutions.

Available for vertical or horizontal mounting with threaded or non-threaded bushing, the E37 encoders have a robust 11.5 x 12.3 x 9.1mm metal housing, metal shaft and gold-plated contacts. The device has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C, is MIL-STD-202G compliant and has optional IP60 or IP68 front panel sealing.

Various customisation options are available, including shaft dimensions and shape, switching torque and push button actuation force, indexing resolution and pulses/revolution. A full range of matching control knobs of various heights and diameters are available for the E37 encoders to facilitate panel design and aesthetics.
