Virtalis to launch ActiveMove at PTC User 2010

07 May 2010

Virtalis plans to launch a major new product line at PTC/User 2010 in Orlando, Florida on June 6. ActiveMove is a transportable, interactive 3D visualisation system, and to mark its launch, Virtalis is offering two Time Limited Offers at the show. The first is a generous discount on any ActiveMove purchases, if orders are placed within 60 days of the show. The second is a 20% discount on all systems ordered within nine months of registering a lead at the event.

The PTC/User World Event 2010 is the premier conference for professionals who use PTC products and services, including Arbortext, CoCreate, Mathcad, Pro/ENGINEER, ProductView and Windchill. Visitors to PTC/User will be able to see ActiveMove for themselves on Booth 609.  In addition, Virtalis client, Allan Molbech of Vestas, will be speaking about his experience of how VR has transformed the way wind turbines are designed.  The presentation is entitled ‘Designing Wind Turbines using an Immersive and Interactive Virtual Reality Environment’ and will be delivered on Tuesday at 1300 hrs. as part of the ProductView stream of lectures.

Paul McColl, Virtalis power sector expert says: “ActiveMove combines best in class technology and is part of the Virtalis ActiveWorks family of 3D immersive visualisation solutions.  ActiveMove can’t be beaten for those users looking for a cost effective and transportable solution that can be quickly assembled for department presentations, marketing seminars, trade shows, training workshops or research programmes.”

With ActiveMove, data can not only be visualised in stereoscopic 3D, but also the system enables full immersion and interaction, thanks to Virtalis’ integrated head and hand tracking solution.  This added functionality alters the perspective of the visuals according to the user’s position and orientation within the scene.  The hand held controller allows the immersive experience to be enhanced further.  The user can navigate through the virtual world, pick and manipulate component parts in real time and make decisions on the fly.

“ActiveMove provides a wholly immersive and interactive environment in which to better explore and understand information and data”, explains Steve Carpenter, Virtalis engineering specialist.  “Immersive environments stimulate intra and inter-disciplinary communications, facilitating a level of understanding often unattainable using conventional methods.  Our clients repeatedly tell us that the improved understanding our systems bring is truly transformational to their design reviews, manufacturing processes and marketing efforts.”

ActiveMove comprises an active, stereoscopic, High Definition resolution, high brightness, high frame rate, three chip DLP projector with a rear projection screen in a dedicated enclosure, coupled with a PC, eyewear, head and hand tracking, installation and support.  ActiveMove is transported in two, custom, wheeled cases specifically design for local and international shipping, making it easy to share between locations.
