EngineeringUK appoints new chairman
01 June 2010
EngineeringUK has appointed Paul Golby as its new Chairman. Dr Golby will take up his new position from September 1 2010, succeeding Sir Anthony Cleaver who comes to the end of his three-year tenure. Dr Golby, who has been chief executive of E.ON UK since 2002, says he is looking forward to building on the great work undertaken by Sir Anthony Cleaver, Paul Jackson and the team at EngineeringUK.
It is absolutely clear to me that engineering is fundamental to the re-building of Britains economy, he said. Indeed, EngineeringUKs own figures show that if we are to succeed, the manufacturing sector needs to recruit over half a million engineering and manufacturing workers with state-of the-art-skills by 2017. The work undertaken by EngineeringUK to promote engineering and engineers has an ever more critical role to play in achieving this.
