Single Cartridge Alternative To Mechanical Seals

The new John Crane 4610 single cartridge seal, which is available from
BSL’s nationwide outlets in sizes from 24mm to 70mm, is claimed to be a
cost effective alternative to mechanical seals, as well as being a
reliable solution to traditional packing systems on pumps and rotating
shaft equipment. The seal tolerates temperatures and pressures up to
130oC and 11bar respectively, and will operate at speeds of up to
3,600rpm before there are any adverse effects on performance. Other
features include a robust, indirect through-sleeve drive mechanism, a
special gland plate with four-bolt fixing for accurate setting, and a
novel centralising ring that avoids the need for setting clips, which can
