New online tool checks working combinations of Misumi products

06 July 2011

Misumi Europa has expanded its online services to include a new tool: the 'Modular Assembler', which enables quick identification of components from the company's catalogue that will work together harmoniously. Misumi developed the application in order to determine the best product combinations from its diverse range of over one million standard, purchased and custom-made parts.

The Modular Assembler significantly reduces the amount of time it takes design engineers to select the best-suited components, work on dimensioning and generate CAD models and product numbers.

The service is currently available in English and is divided into four product categories: positioning/indexing, position adjustment (positioning, adjusting, detecting), rotary/linear (rotary, linear), work piece retention (retention) and connecting components (connection). Different functions are available; for example, products that can be combined in a useful and efficient manner can be isolated quickly and product numbers can be generated for the combinations and/or assembly groups for the purposes of dimensioning and construction. As usual, the corresponding CAD models for these products are immediately available for integration into the application and testing.

Once the component unit has been chosen, the desired parameters can be selected using the CAD configurator. Just as with individual components, the system immediately applies the parameters and displays the corresponding design in 2D or 3D. The CAD download is available in all common formats. The total price and delivery time are also now available and the order process can continue as normal.

All of this information is available from the "Catalogues" section on the Misumi homepage, which can be accessed via the "eCatalog/WOS" navigation link.
