Next generation farm duty motors from Regal Beloit
15 January 2013
Regal Beloit has introduced the Leeson EcoAg range of high efficiency motors, primarily for use in agriculture but also suitable for a wide variety of applications in remote or outdoor environments.

The motors are available in single phase and three phase versions. The single phase design ranges from 0.3hp to 2hp with frame sizes from 56 to 145T. The three phase version goes up to 10hp and frame size 215T. All have an output speed of 1,800rpm.
The energy efficiency of the EcoAg range is up to 22 per cent better than industry standards for agricultural motors, giving a substantial saving in annual power costs. Typical agricultural uses will include fans, augers, feeders, grain dryers, and processing equipment, while non-agricultural applications include a wide range of pumps and machinery for forestry, signage, aerials, access equipment, mobile handling and many other industries.
Torque output is not compromised by the energy savings, so the motors are as powerful as other models. This means that they can be easily retrofitted to existing equipment in order to achieve an immediate energy saving.
The three phase motors meet EISA (Energy Independence and Security Act) mandates, meaning they comply with the latest requirements for energy and environmental performance.
The design principle of the EcoAg motors is that they are designed and built for the tough applications found in the agricultural industry. The gasketed capacitor housing and conduit boxes provide protection in all environments. Double sealed ball bearings are pre-lubricated with a high performance grease which has an operating temperature range of -20°F to+350°F. Details such as a rubber boot over the manual protector reset button help provide weather protection at all levels.
Leeson has also designed-in electrical robustness, including powerful low temperature manual overload protectors, Class “F” copper windings and varnish, and a capacitor start which provides high starting torque with normal starting current.
