Solid-state safety relays monitor up to four functions

05 May 2006

Pilz Automation Technology is adding two more models to its PNOZelog range of electronic safety 'relays' for monitoring up to four safety functions. The PNOZ e6.1p and PNOZ e6vp each provide two fail-safe, solid-state semiconductor outputs, four robust, volt-free relay outputs, one auxiliary output (which can be configured as a diagnostic output) and two test pulse outputs. In addition, the PNOZ e6vp has a user-selectable time delay for the two fail-safe outputs. As with the other models in the PNOZelog range, the units are easily connected together to create logical AND/OR functions. Other advantages of the PNOZelog range include compact dimensions, low power consumption, long service life, resistance to vibration, a capability for handling low switching currents and increased diagnostic capabilities. Furthermore, the versatile multi-functionality means that logistic and inventory costs are reduced, and product selection is simplified. Both the PNOZ e6.1p and PNOZ e6vp can be used to monitor emergency stop switches, safety gates, light curtains and other safety components. They are suitable for use within safety-related control systems conforming to the requirements of Categories 2, 3 or 4 of BS EN 954-1.
