New clamping system for high-speed CNC micro machining

19 June 2006

Schunk has introduced the new Tribos-RM product to its Tribos polygon clamping toolholder range. Working in conjunction with Datron, a German manufacturer of high speed precision CNC machine tool systems, Schunk has designed the new Tribos-RM tool holder as an extension to its proven Tribos product range. The new design is suitable for spindle speeds up to 50,000rpm with a clamped tool concentricity of better than 0.003mm. It also provides stable and rigid performance whilst demonstrating impressive vibration dampening attributes.

The Tribos-RM toolholders are currently available as standard for machine spindle interfaces HSK-E 25, HSK-E 32 and HSK-E 40. As a cost effective solution, comparable systems for this kind of application prove to be more expensive than the whole Tribos-RM package, including the clamping device and accessories.

The Tribos-RM can be used for precise machining of aluminium, plastics and electrodes. The excellent concentricity combined with an exceptional clamping force result in outstanding stability and vibration dampening of the cutting tool.
