Innovative sensor solutions for tough applications

Never heard of Gill Sensors? Having difficulty solving your measurement requirement? Need an off the shelf sensor or a solution customised to your unique application? Then read on. We are part of the Gill group of companies and have successfully been providing customers with a one-stop shop for their position and level sensing needs for many years. We offer standard sensors and a rapid custom design service to provide the best solution to customer’s sensing problems, whatever the application. All our products are designed and manufactured in the UK and with truly innovative technologies we are recognised as a supplier in the sensor market. Excuse the cliché, but no job is too big or too small for us at Gill.
Our range of position sensors all employ patented Blade technologies and we can offer a choice of stroke lengths and angles. We have a standard series and are able to offer many customised options of which we have huge capability that can clearly be seen from our past projects. The Blade range is inductive, fully non-contact and all have no internal movement. Blade sensors are available in a standard package format whereby the sensing system comprises two parts, the sensor and a metallic activator attached to the customers moving application. On-board processing gives the Blade great flexibility so the user can configure sensor parameters such as stroke length/angle, output format (analogue, PWM, serial) and independent switch points using the free BladeCom software. This technology and functionality is proving to be truly unique and has cemented the range as THE cost-effective alternative to other potentiometers and hall-effect sensors.
Our liquid level sensors are predominantly used in motorsport, especially in the prestigious Formula One championship. Our involvement in this market has demanded we prove our capability in providing a very rapid response to customer demands for customised products. Using capacitive principles to determine the level of fluid in a tank we have developed highly reliable sensors at a cost effective price, available in a range of configurations to suit the customer’s application. We are now able to offer liquid level sensors to sense fuel, oil, and coolant level and this year will be releasing a range of standard products for customers with less demanding requirements.
When seeking a hard wearing measurement solution for that demanding application look no further than Gill. Globally recognised companies have proven our sensors on applications in agricultural and plant, industrial handling and machinery, marine, rail and motorsport to name a few. The versatility of the Blade is recognized in many markets, and example projects range from pedal position to gearbox shift-rail movement, through to brake pad wear and steering trim tab position used on vessels in the America’s Cup.
