Self-tapping threaded inserts are quick to install

Paying greater attention to methods of fastener insertion can result in cost savings for plastic moulders. Tappex report that a number of moulders supplying components to the automotive industry have achieved significant ‘in-place’ savings by switching from heat insertion to cold insertion using its range of self-tapping threaded Triserts.
Designed for high performance fastening of modern engineering plastics, Triserts produce strong, wear-resistant threads in materials from standard thermoplastics through thermoplastic foams to reaction injection moulded materials, GRP and thermoset plastics such as phenolic.
Triserts are simply and quickly installed using Tappex’s low-cost FlexiArm installation equipment, which is extremely easy to operate and ensures consistent assembly quality regardless of operator experience.
Designed as an adaptable system for production line use, the FlexiArm is available with one, two or three tool holding arms with the option of upgrading.
The double-ended design of the Trisert means that it can be inserted either way up – significantly simplifying the installation process. A typical installation of four inserts takes approximately 25 seconds.
