So what can be NEW to the PSU market we hear you ask - surely a DIN rail mount power supply is simply that? Think again says IDEC!
IDEC, a creator of the optimum HMI (Human Machine Interface) environment, has newly developed the high-power, space saving PS6R series switching power supply. Only 37mm wide (120W version) and with many features not seen with a 'standard' PSU.
To develop something new for such power supply applications, one should consider the needs of the user. Whilst the main control voltage within the machine or control system needs 24V dc to power the PLC, relays, push buttons and other control components, many other functions and apparatus within the machine or process require additional voltages - maybe to power load cells and other such field equipment. In addition, efficiency and reliability are becoming ever more important to the conscientious and diligent machine builder & system provider.
To meet these demands, such as additional voltages, IDEC are the first in our industry to offer a series of dc-dc converters that provide multiple voltage outputs from the single PSU unit base unit. The dc-dc converter module options can provide a range of voltages including +/- 5Vdc, +12Vdc, +/- 15Vdc and measure only 21mm wide, they clip directly to the side of the main PSU unit, providing space saving and less wiring time thus reducing the overall cost of the system build.
The PS6R has an overall efficiency of 93 percent, which is high when compared to the majority of the competition in the general PSU market place, once again providing cost saving due to the energy saving and provides high reliability due to a wide operating temperature (-10 to +70oC) , which enables continuous operation.
In addition the PS6R has the capability of both serial and parallel connectivity allowing the option of doubling up the PSU power in order to provide an output current in excess of 960W, ideal for those high power demand systems. Each PSU also has an NPN output to confirm “DC OK” which can be used to “alarm” the system controller that the dc output has dropped below 80 percent.
Finally, the PS6R power supply meets the relevant international standards including EN61204-3 (Electromagnetic compatibility Class B), CE marked (LVD & EMCD) as well as the UL, cUL and TUV (EN60950-1, EN50178).
