Taking the heat out of glass tempering

10 October 2006

Under a contract valued at almost €400,000, Fläkt Woods has supplied two of its Comvel-i turbo compressors for a new glass tempering project being undertaken by Tamglass in Japan. The Comvel-i features a combination of high-speed motor drive and high performance composite impeller technology. The carbon fibre composite impellers are directly mounted on a T-gearbox shaft, combining a robust, simple design with compact size. The high strength to weight ratio, enables high rotational speeds, with corresponding high pressure increase (to a maximum of 80 kPa).
