Materialise releases Magics for Objet 3D printing
16 February 2007
Materialise has customised a version of its Magics software to meet the specific requirements of production on Objet 3-D printing equipment. Magics for Objet allows users to highlight and locate problems in STL files, perform 2D and 3D measurements, orientate parts, and document part features or measurements in clear print-outs.
The Fix Wizard automates the repair of the STL model, which considerably reduces the skill level and time required to repair files. The Wizard’s intuitive interface quickly identifies errors and recommends successive steps for correcting them, guiding the user step by step through the repair process. Automatic and manual fixing tools are available for inversion of flipped triangles, stitching of bad edges and filling of complex holes.
Magics for Objet also offers intelligent tools to make process-related design changes directly on the part. Parts can be cut to reduce the build height or length, and to optimise the amount of support material needed. The ‘teeth’ cut ensures an easy, perfect fit. Parts can be hollowed and thus become faster to produce, while ensuring a minimal material cost.
*The Magics rapid prototyping and manufacturing suite is now in version 11. Enhancements include easier manipulation of textured models, fast identification of build problems to avoid costly scrap and time wasting, and more efficient communication tools.
