New product packaging combats counterfeiting
23 February 2007
MacDermid Autotype has introduced packaging, to combat counterfeiting of its products. Based on a combination of ultraviolet visible inks and holographic labelling, the new packaging is extremely difficult to reproduce or copy. In addition, the new product packaging has been introduced to reflect the recent change in brand identity, with the ‘Autotype in a box’ logo, used for the last 20 years, being phased out as part of a process of a global rebranding programme under the MacDermid banner.
All screen print films shipped from January 1st 2007, including photo-stencil, indirect stencil and knife cut films such as Autotype Capillex, Autotype Alphastar and Autotype Novastar, will be supplied using the new product packaging. This will incorporate high security labelling, printed using UV sensitive inks and featuring unique holographic designs, which contain multiple embedded security devices.
To help dealers check that each consignment of screen printing films comes from MacDermid Autotype’s manufacturing centre in the UK the company will also be supplying special laser pens so that pack labels can be checked at the point of local distribution or use.
