Self-contained servo drive saves 50 percent energy costs

With its closed loop differential pump (CLDP) system, this new servo drive from Voith Turbo H + L Hydraulic combines both electromechanical and hydraulic systems.

The self-contained linear drive is compact, highly dynamic and energy efficient. In addition, it offers the user all the advantages of a hydraulic system, including overload protection, a high power density and virtually wear free operation.

The CLDP servo drive can be used for all direct linear motions – primarily when dynamic response, reproducibility and reliability are needed. The unit is basically a hydraulic gearbox with a nearly unlimited gear ratio - suitablefor applications with high dynamic speed requirements and high power demands.

The heart of the unit is an integrated servo pump consisting of a servo motor and an internal gear pump. The unit also includes intelligent control plus a fieldbus connection, a pressure limiter and a small compensating tank. The control system avoids the need for expensive valve engineering. 

Energy losses arising from throttling do not occur with the CLDP - a factor that increases the potential energy savings by up to 50 percent over conventional drive systems.

The unit is easily integrated into new or existing machines. Just an electrical connection for the servo motor is required.
