On demand chilled beam ventilator saves energy(29/03/2012)

Fläkt Woods has introduced a new concept in chilled beam design called WEGA, which saves energy normally wasted when ventilating unoccupied spaces or when over-cooling rooms by using a technique called 'demand controlled ventilation'. WEGA's motor controlled variable air volume system optimises ventilation to suit average occupancy rate, which varies between 35 and 55% during normal office hours.

Fläkt Woods has introduced new range of products to the UK, including the novel SuperLite axial fan, a choice of Veloduct sealed fittings, Iris dampers, an innovative roof fan, plus fire dampers, valves and domestic fans. The company's SuperLIte Partners will be stocking a broad range of duct-fitting products, including Veloduct's system of gasket-sealed fittings, as well as high quality valves, dampers, attenuators and other pressed fittings.

Fläkt Woods offers a new box fan range which incorporates energy efficient motors. The product delivers performance in line with current Part L building regulations, meeting the drive for tighter efficiencies, as well as providing ventilation on demand. The new EC TwinBox has a small footprint and features Fläkt's ‘2nd generation’ intelligent fan controller, which has a simplified interface for easier integration.

2011 has started well for Fläkt Woods. The company is celebrating after winning its largest ever single contract, a €7 million project to supply ventilation fans for the Marmaray tunnel rail project in Turkey. The contract will supply the air movement needs on one of the world’s biggest transportation infrastructure schemes, the 13.6km (8.5 mile) Bosphorus crossing, a €1.9bn rail-tunnel running deep beneath the Bosphorus Straits.
