    GeoVisionary software aids environmental research(19/04/2012)

    The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) has begun using Virtalis’ GeoVisionary software to visualise its data in 3D, following a demonstration of the application at sister organisation, the British Geological Survey (BGS).     The Virtalis development team has created a virtual reality (VR) software adaptor that seamlessly exports data created in AVEVA’s Tribon CAD package into PTC’s DIVISION MockUp and Virtalis’ Visionary Render. The conduit for this development was Shanghai-based RBD Computer Technology Company, which brings Virtalis technology to Chinese industry and academia. Now Virtalis, RBD, AVEVA and PTC are working together to bring the solution to market – the Virtalis Tribon Adaptor.

    HM The Queen inaugurates the Nuclear AMRC using virtual tools(23/11/2010)

    Instead of physically lifting the first sod for the new Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC), as is traditional for an official launch, The Queen activated a virtual digger to do the work remotely. The Nuclear AMRC then appeared to be built in 3D - all thanks to Virtalis advanced visualisation techniques. Her Majesty enjoyed the immersive experience during a visit to the University of Sheffield AMRC with Boeing.

    Virtalis introduces a lightweight wireless VR HMD to the UK market(17/11/2010)

    Virtual Reality (VR) specialist, Virtalis is bringing the first wireless head-mounted display (HMD) to the UK, courtesy of its partner, Sensics. The wireless zSight allows the users to wander through virtual environments naturally, as the only wire is one connecting the HMD to a rechargeable battery pack which clips onto a belt. zSight boasts 1280 x 1024 SXGA, as well as 720p resolution and a 60 degree diagonal field of view. Notably, it weighs only 450g, or roughly one pound.
