Compact colour displays deliver high brightness and low power consumption

The latest 2.2in TFT displays from Anders Electronics offer a cost-effective route to migrate existing products from mono to colour. The range offers high brightness, low-power operation, sunlight readability and a variety of interfaces, as well as touch screen and semi-custom options.
Suitable for applications ranging from hand-held consumer devices to portable industrial applications, the new QVGA (240 x RGB x 320 pixel) displays offer a choice of transmissive and transflective technologies, brightness levels up to 200cd/m2, and contrast ratios as high as 300:1.
The MTF-T022BHNLN and VGG243212 are a-Si TFT transmissive displays with typical brightness levels of 200cd/m2 and 160cd/m2 respectively. Respective contrast ratios are 250:1 and 300:1. The TD022SREC6 is a transflective display that uses LTPS (low temperature poly-silicon) technology to minimise power consumption while delivering a typical brightness of 195cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 150:1.
All of the new products feature 65k colour output, with the a-Si TFT displays also capable of 262k operation. Microprocessor interface options include 8-bit, 9-bit, 16-bit and 18-bit parallel connectivity, depending on the display chosen. Additionally, the VGG243212 supports SPI-3 and SPI-4 interfaces and offers a selectable 6800/8080 series MPU interface.
Each of the new displays incorporates LED backlighting and offers high levels of integration to minimise requirements for external components. The MTF-T022BHNLN and VGG243212, for example, have an on-board LCD controller and a built-in dc/dc controller.
In addition to the standard products, Anders can also supply semi-custom 2.2in products based on the new displays. The company also provides support for field application engineers, ranging from development kits to application notes.
