Applications laboratory set up for precision joining of metal and plastic

04 July 2007

ACAL TC’s Precision Joining Technologies division has completed a £250,000 refurbishment of its Leicester headquarters to establish a fully-equipped applications laboratory. The new facility allows the company’s team of specialist engineers to work with customers to develop the most appropriate production methods to meet their precision joining needs – for both metal and plastic. ACAL can then supply the best equipment to carry out those tasks from its wide range of precision joining systems.

The new laboratory contains over £300,000 worth of demonstration equipment, including low-current and high-current resistance welding systems, resistance welding monitoring and quality control products, reflow and ACF bonding systems, robotic equipment, induction heating equipment and a wide range of hand-held tools. These products are manufactured by a range of suppliers, including Miyachi Unitek, Miyachi Peco, Janome, Ceia and Hios. The laboratory is staffed by a team of skilled engineers with many years’ experience of all precision joining technologies and also features a range of visual inspection and test equipment.

General Manager, Dave Fawcett, says the new applications laboratory is a commitment to valued customers, staff and suppliers. “We aim to provide customers with effective, affordable solutions to most material joining projects – all of which can be demonstrated and developed in this new facility.”
