Linear stage offers precision with small steps

13 September 2015

PI miCos has introduced the L-511 precision linear stage series, which achieves unidirectional repeatability up to 0.1µm and minimum incremental motion of up to 0.02µm.

The L-511 is stepper motor driven, and optional direct-measuring position encoders ensure a high resolution within a range of a few nanometres. Versions with dc motors and dynamic ActiveDrive control, as well as dc gear motors, are in the pipeline.

These stages are suitable for applications that require high cycle rates and velocities of up to 50 mm/s, and are available for travel ranges of 52mm, 102mm and 155 mm.

Recirculating ball bearings that are mounted on precision-ground profiles ensure a high guiding accuracy of +/-50µrad per 100mm travel range and a load capacity up to 100N.

For single-axis control, PI offers the easy to operate digital C-863 and C-663 Mercury motion controllers for dc motors and stepper motors. The C-884 controller is available for dc motor control of up to four axes.
