19in widescreen operator panels feature IP65 protection

Siemens has released two new flat panel products which have been reinforced to cope with the demands of harsh industrial environments.

Available now, the SIMATIC IPC477D PRO Panel PC (illustrated) and SIMATIC IFP1900 PRO Flat Panel are designed especially for use at the machine level without an enclosure. The latest additions to the Siemens glass-front display portfolio, both devices have all-round IP65 rugged aluminium casing with top or bottom flanges for simple mounting.
The 19in touch screen displays have crystal-clear, scratchproof, 100 percent glass fronts that are highly resistant to chemicals. Fitted with industrial anti-glare surfaces, the screens have good legibility, even at a distance, thanks to the high image resolution and brightness.
The inclusion of Projected Capacitive Touch technology (PCT) enables single and multi-touch or gesture-based operation, even when wearing thin protective gloves. It also detects potential errors such as dirt accumulation or accidental touches to protect against unwanted activation of the touch screen. To maximise operator efficiency, on-screen images can be panned, zoomed, or hidden components shown intuitively and quickly.
SIMATIC IPC477D PRO Panel PC is available with a choice of Intel processors - Celeron 827E, Core i3-3217UE or Core i7-3517UE - for high system performance for demanding visualization, computing and control tasks. Users can choose between Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows 7 Ultimate pre-installed for the flexibility of a standard PC. On-board diagnostics allow for predictive maintenance and rapid repair, meaning reduced downtime.
SIMATIC IFP1900 PRO Flat Panels can be connected to PCs through either Digital Visual or DisplayPort Interfaces and USB connection. They can be used in conjunction with SIMATIC IPCs (Panel PC, Box PC and Rack PC) for diverse centralised and distributed operator control and monitoring concepts.
Installation is simple and requires only one person due to the casing’s lightweight design. A back-plate cover also provides easy access to the interfaces without requiring disassembly, even while mounted. The top or bottom flange mounting fits to various suppliers support arm systems.
