Nutrunners with lightweight construction
11 September 2007

Designed to maximise comfort and ease-of-use, even in hard-to-reach areas, pistol-grip nutrunners in the new ErgoSpin ESM range from Bosch Rexroth feature lightweight yet robust construction, and have an integrated LED spotlight that brightly illuminates the tightening area. Activated by pressing the tools' start button, the spotlight can be programmed to operate for 1 to 99 seconds, and can also, if necessary, be disabled.
The new nutrunners are available in versions with torque ranges of 2.4 to 12Nm and 5.0 to 25Nm. The 12Nm models are offered with a choice of a ¼" square output drive or a quick-change chuck. The 25Nm models can be supplied with either a plain 3/8" square drive or a 3/8" square drive, plus a Hirth tooth system for use with accessories such as central nut tightening jigs.
The ergonomic construction featured by all nutrunners in the new ErgoSpin ESM range ensures high user acceptance and helps to minimise operator fatigue, thereby boosting productivity. Further productivity gains are made possible by the durable construction of the new tools that incorporate non-contact angle and torque sensors, and which are designed to operate for at least one million cycles at full load without requiring maintenance.
The new ErgoSpin ESM nutrunners are fully compatible with cables and controllers in the extensive Bosch Rexroth System 300 family of tightening products. They also offer the convenience of "plug-and-run" operation. This means that when a nutrunner is connected to a controller, it is automatically recognised and configured, and so non-productive set-up time is virtually eliminated.
Tightening systems incorporating the new nutrunners can be readily configured to provide, for example, full control over tightening rate and torque, and over the total angle through which the nut rotates during the tightening process. The functions of the buttons on the tool can also be configured to meet the user's exact requirements. In addition to this System 300 controllers can capture and store data, allowing full traceability to be achieved.
As well as its new ErgoSpin ESM pistol-grip nutrunners, Bosch Rexroth offers an extensive range of hand-held straight and angle tightening tools with torques up to 220Nm in standard configurations, and even higher in custom versions. Also available from the company are stationary tightening systems that use the same 300-series software as the handheld tools, to allow easy programming and parameterisation.
To complement its tightening product family in fixing applications, Bosch Rexroth also supplies versatile pressfit systems that are particularly well suited for use in automated production lines. The flexibility of these systems is enhanced by the ability to control a wide range of setpoints, while integrated transducers make it easy to configure them to suit almost any type of workpiece.
