Marine systems feature iRIS remote monitoring and control
24 February 2016
BVM has released three new products for the marine automation, navigation and communications market: 19 and 22in PanelPCs and the SBOX-100 embedded system.

The IP66 sealed fanless operation units and embedded system support iRIS, Independent Remote Monitoring and Control, an IPMI compatible interface. This provides a powerful software suite enabling the control and management of physically remote or inaccessible systems from a central location via Ethernet.
Operators have access to numerous remote functions: BIOS update, OS recovery, hardware monitoring and fan and power control, KVM + One Key Recovery and remote out-off-band backup. Installed application software can be updated and the OS can be recovered or re-installed.
Both the PanelPCs and the SBOX-100 units are based on 4th Generation Intel i5-4400E processors running under the QM87 chipset at 2.7GHz with 4GB of 1,600MHz DDR3 DRAM. The PanelPCs have 19 or 22in 1,920 x 1,080 pixel projected capacitive touchscreens with wide viewing angles and optional enhanced visibility in direct sunlight.
The SBOX-100 embedded system stores and processes the data and acts as a communications hub, accepting inputs from a range of sources. Extensive serial I/O, including a CANbus interface, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports and RAID hard drives provide a powerful and versatile embedded system.
