Solutions for cable applications

Murrplastik Systemtechnik has offered cable entry systems, cable entry plates, strain relief systems, cable retaining systems and EMC solutions for many years now. Right from the beginning priority was given to a systematic approach. The priority today is, as it has always been, to design "products which provide definite application advantages to the customer".

The KDL cable entry system has been developed to make it much easier for end customers to route pre-assembled cables e.g. measurement, servo cables, computer cables and bus systems. During the design process, considerable emphasis was given to the need for a simple and trouble-free application.

Ready for the toughest jobs

The newest addition to the range is KDL/C and KDL/D. Two new cable entry plates for ultra-durable deployment in extremely tough industrial environments. Everywhere, in fact, where high mechanical stresses, moisture, acids, lyes, alcohols, mineral oils, fuels, greases and dust make life truly difficult for any piece of plant or system component. Although KDL/C already satisfies protection class IP 54, Murrplastik goes even further with the KDL/D model: protection class IP 65 is now also possible as a retrofit option even for completely separable systems. Both cable entry plates can be deployed at temperatures ranging from -30 to +100°C.

In contrast to the KDL/C, the KDL/D model is fitted with an extra bridge that further strengthens the rugged frame. This extra bridge is used as an additional anchor point, with which every routed cable can be fixed rock-solid with full strain relief. This makes grommet stripping almost impossible – even under extremely severe mechanical loads.

New mounting systems simplify installation

Murrplastik’s engineers have completely redesigned the mounting system. Instead of the usual approach, i.e. snapping the cable plus grommet into the cable entry unit vertically from above – so as to then fix the cable entry itself in the switch cabinet cut-out – it’s now all a lot simpler: the cable entry is pre-installed in the cabinet and cable plus grommet is then simply pushed in horizontally – and tool-free – from the front. This is an especial advantage during retrofitting work and repairs on pre-fabricated cabling. For practical purposes, cable and grommet can thus be pre-assembled to save time. Additional benefit: cabling no longer needs to be pulled out of the cabinet (with about 30cm of free cable) to attach the grommets. For the first time, then, this means the cable entry plate can be assembled post-installation without needing any awkward lengths of free cable.

Optimum features for practical industry use

Both cable entry models can be used to install wiring with a high packing density in very tight form factors, namely 148 x 58mm. Up to 12 cables can be inserted at the same time. A total of ten separate grommet models are available, with clamping ranges of between 2 and 12mm, plus a dummy grommet for closing off any unwanted openings. KDL/C and KDL/D installation dimensions are matched to the standard cut-outs on the heavy-duty 24-pin Harting and Wieland plug connectors. Manufactured from PP and TPE, both cable entry models are halogen-free and satisfy the V0 (UL 94) flame class.

For EMC-capable fixing systems, Murrplastik offers a portfolio of products dedicated to making assembly as easy as possible.

A further innovation is the KDP/F cable entry plate, offered as a low-cost alternative to the KDP/N variants established in the market. Featuring rapid installation, the KDP models offer tremendous potential savings. A lower footprint and user-friendly assembly are two of the key advantages offered by these products.

However, these are just some of the innovations from Murrplastik Systemtechnik. For further information, to request product literature or arrange an onsite demonstration call the UK Technical Team on 0161 728 3133 email: sales@murrelektronik.co.uk
