Innovative new Micro PLC introduced to UK market

Sys-Tek announces the launch of IDEC’s latest Micro Programmable Logic Controller, the MicroSmart FC6A.
The compact and modular PLC can be easily structured according to the user’s requirements due to a comprehensive range of modules that include:
• A separate HMI
• A choice of CPU’s with I/O capacities of 16, 24 and 40
• A host of expansion modules, including 17 digital I/O modules, eight types of analogue I/O modules, two temperature control modules, four analogue cartridges and two communications cartridges.
• Analogue control capabilities extend to PID with auto-tuning, flow totalisation and recipe management functions.
The large amount of modules means that as many as 520 I/Os can be set up.
The FC6A is capable of executing complex machine control programs with a maximum instruction set capacity of 640kbyte. Control of highly dynamic, synchronous machine functions is fast with a basic instruction processing time of just 42ns.
It also features a mini USB port on all CPU platforms, allowing user programs to be downloaded or uploaded without having to supply power to the CPU module. An SD card is also provided for additional memory capacity and an Ethernet port comes as standard for remote monitoring and applications that use Modbus communications.
The FC6A is Internet of Things (IoT) ready with the capability to provide custom webpages that are easily configured for remote monitoring and control. The webpages are created using a simple ‘drag and drop’ style method that requires no special HTML programming knowledge. When connecting to the internet via the Ethernet port, the HMI modules functions as a webserver, enabling the stored webpages to be accessed via any web browser running on any internet connected device. This function also provides email and text notifications that can be customised per user request.
The PLC can be programmed through IDEC’s WindLDR ladder logic software. It has an easy to use interface that allows the user to take full advantage of MicroSmart features. A built in ‘simulation’ mode enables the functionality of a ladder program to be tested and verified before it is downloaded to the Micro PLC platform. WindLDR also provides a status monitor function for communications as well as monitoring for errors or failures in the CPU and I/O expansion modules. For those that currently have the WindLDR software, all upgrades and changes will be free of charge.
