Rugged 2,000A true-RMS clamp meters

19 February 2008

Fluke has introduced the Fluke 353 and Fluke 355 true-RMS Clamp Meters for accurate readings up to 2,000A in industrial and utility applications, without the need to disconnect equipment. The rugged design and CAT IV 600V/CAT III 1,000V safety ratings offer excellent protection in high voltage applications, enabling the checking of new installations, troubleshooting and the taking of accurate measurements on UPS and variable frequency drives with noisy loads.

The new, handheld Fluke 353 and 355 Clamp Meters feature extra wide jaws (up to 58mm) to easily clamp around large conductors and bus-bars typically found in high current applications. A special mode button on both models offers accurate peak measurements of in-rush currents for motor start-ups and other inductive loads. Both models measure up to 2,000A dc and 1,400A rms ac. The Fluke 355 also measures voltage to 1,000V dc and 600V rms ac and resistance to 400k Ohms, making it a very versatile single tool for industrial and utility technicians and electrical contractors; there is also a continuity beeper.

The Fluke 353 and 355 feature a large backlit display to give clear visibility in areas of poor lighting, and a display-hold function for readings which cannot be viewed directly. The clamp meters measure frequency up to 1kHz, feature MIN, MAX and AVG functions for analysing readings quickly, and have a low-pass filter for more accurate measurements on equipment with high frequency or switching noise.
