High speed 2D barcode reader

03 March 2008

Building on the success of the ODT-MAC340 range of high speed 2D barcode readers, Pepperl+Fuchs has developed the new ODT-MAC400 range. This range expands the already impressive functionality by adding higher processing speeds, improved connectivity with the addition of Ethernet, and wider field of view - all contained in a more compact housing.

The high specification optics and image processor allows 2D barcodes of up to 48 x 48 modules, with a minimum module size of 0.2mm to be evaluated at a rate of 30 per second.

The built-in solid state directional illumination is powerful enough to overcome most ambient light issues, and the flash speed is adjustable to allow the reading of 2D barcodes moving at up to 6mtrs/second.

Connectivity includes high speed RS232 up to 115K baud for the barcode data, digital OK/NOK signals and also Ethernet for configuration, data output and also connection to the optional PC based ValidateDMx software which enables the ODT-MAC400 to become a powerful tool for the validation of 2D barcodes in actual production environments, allowing print quality and barcode quality to be sampled in real time.

Built in VGA, output is provided to connect to a standard PC monitor to aid in the set-up and configuration, but also provides real time display of the barcodes read.
