Car charging stations go up a gear with access hardware

07 March 2022

Quarter-turn latches from Swedish manufacturer Industrilas have been specified for a new range of electric vehicle charging stations.

Based in Nassjo, Sweden, Eldon Installation is part of the Eldon Group, specialists in the design and manufacture of industrial enclosures for almost 100 years.

Eldon has just added to its portfolio by introducing an all-new range of charging stations for electric vehicles, manufactured in Sweden. They use a sheet-metal enclosure that is oxylane-treated with a C5-class varnish as a corrosion inhibitor, and the cabinets have been designed for impact resistance to IK10 with ingress protection to IP54.

Key elements in the success of the new Eldon charging station have been its user-friendliness combined with exceptional durability. Users expect the units to work faultlessly first time, every time at convenient locations in an environment where outside air temperatures can vary from -20°C up to +40°C.

Reliable locking combined with ease of access to the inside of the cabinets was high on the ‘must haves’ list for Eldon engineers when designing the new range. As a result, standard cylinder locks from Industrilas have been exclusively specified on the project, selected from a range of options available from the company that now includes a different type of quarter-turn latch design for almost every conceivable application.

According to Eldon Engineer Fredrik Anderö, “We are always thorough with the quality of the products we use and the reason we work with Industrilas is because of their flexible and agile approach. The products offered are high quality and easy to work with.”

Industrilas UK’s Barry George, speaking at the company’s base in Telford, observes, “The majority of our most popular access hardware products, including the type used on the new Eldon chargers, are stocked here for same or following day dispatch.

“We operate at the high-quality end of the market and also have extensive experience of designing bespoke access solutions in partnership with customers. Our range of different products is amongst the most extensive available from a European manufacturer, covering hinges, handles, locks and latches manufactured to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. We’re REACH and RoHS compliant and also meet the demanding standards of the rail industry, with solutions that meet rail industry standard DIN EN 61373.”
