Integrate displays with ease with open frame monitors
22 April 2022
An open frame monitor includes an enclosure to protect the back of the display and the internal components, but also allows designers and integrators a quick and easy method to install a human-machine interface (HMI) into equipment.
Relec Electronics has added a range of daylight readable open frame monitors by Digiwise to its displays portfolio.
Target applications are integrated displays in information kiosks, ticketing machines, digital advertising signage and other terminals in public areas. They are also ideal for industrial systems to integrate a display into a production line.
The major benefit of open frame monitors is that they offer a quick and easy way for equipment manufacturers and system integrators to include a display in a project.
The new line of open frame monitors are designed to be robust for operation outdoors as well as in harsh or demanding environments.
The monitors have IPS (in-plane switching) technology to enable wide viewing angles and they feature high contrast ratios for high colour resolution and brightness levels up to 2000 cd/m2.
Designers can choose optical bonding for enhanced readability, particularly in outdoor installations or PCAP (projective capacitive) touch displays, which have glass up to 6mm thick for use in demanding environments.
The open frame monitors have a wide operating temperature range of -30 to +70°C.
They are available in a range of popular monitor sizes: 7”, 10.4” and 12.1”, each with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Each monitor is equipped with an HDMI input, an audio line output and automatic brightness dimming. Touch models have a USB interface. VESA mounting points and a flange plate are standard and accommodate a range of mounting options.
Further customisation options include custom cover glass printing, surface treatments, custom cable assemblies and the additions of specialised film, e.g. EMC mesh, within the optical stack.
