Re-shoring first came to prominence in the national and technical press at the start of the Covid-19 disruption, usually in the context of US tech giants pulling outsourced manufacturing back to the USA from APAC countries.

The global supply infrastructure has suffered several dislocations over the last two or three years: Covid-19, country-wide lockdowns and the resulting price hikes for container shipping, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and so on. All well documented and understood.
