It’s good to talk

“It’s good to talk” – a familiar saying, but does it still hold true in a world where the internet, social media, remote working, and all things digital seem to reign supreme?

“I think it does, because it is an easy and pleasant way of spreading knowledge,” says Roger Haw, Managing Director of Flame Hardeners.

“The dissipation of knowledge should be one of the prime objectives of the readers of this magazine, since it is a primary route to successful design, development and manufacture,” observes Haw, as he expands on the subject.

Talking to peers, strangers, work colleagues, and even people in the pub can lead to unexpected benefits – although, obviously, there are commercially sensitive areas which cannot be discussed openly with strangers. 

However, how many times have you been at a seminar or even social event when a discussion led to someone saying, “we had a problem like that”, and then freely going on to tell you how they solved it?
