Accurate and consistent dispensing guaranteed

01 February 2009

Nordson group company, EFD is the world's leading designer and manufacturer of precision dispensing systems that apply accurate, consistent amounts of the adhesives, sealants, lubricants and other assembly fluids used in virtually every manufacturing process

When companies are able to put the same amount of fluid in the same place every time, they gain a competitive advantage through higher productivity, improved quality, and lower production costs. Since 1963, EFD has helped thousands of companies achieve these benefits with benchtop dispensers, dispense valves, XYZ dispensing robots, and the highest quality dispensing tips, syringe barrels and other disposable components in the industry.

EFD dispensers provide much greater control than the squeeze bottles, swabs and hand syringes often used in manual assembly processes. These include basic manual dispensers for light assembly and field work, as well as air powered benchtop dispensers that eliminate guesswork by using air pressure and microprocessor-based timers to produce accurate, consistent shots. The company also supplies positive displacement dispensers that make repeatable shots of epoxies and other fluids that change viscosity, plus tabletop dispensing robots for cost-effective automation.

A wide range of valve systems is also available for dispensing accurate, repeatable amounts of almost any assembly fluid, from thin solvents and adhesives to thick RTV sealants and brazing pastes. EFD dispense valves offer exceptionally reliable, drip-free performance and will provide tens of millions of trouble-free cycles before maintenance is required. ValveMate controllers provide a fast, convenient way to adjust valve open time (the easiest and most precise way to adjust deposit size) in increments as small as .001 seconds, for exceptional accuracy and process control. Meanwhile, EFD tank reservoirs maintain steady fluid pressure, prevent fluid contamination and evaporation, and keep fumes contained.

The company produces the highest quality dispensing tips in the industry. All tips are produced in EFD's own silicone-free facilities, and subjected to stringent quality control inspections throughout the entire manufacturing process. Tip hubs and stainless steel needles are free of moulding flash, burrs and contaminants that might otherwise cause variations in dispensing performance. Tip gauges, lengths and colours are consistent from style to style and lot to lot, while package labels include lot numbers for process control and traceability. Shipments can be made within 24 hours from receipt of order, and custom styles are available on request.

The company's Optimum syringe barrel and cartridge systems set a very high standard for quality, consistency and reliability. They improve yields and reduce costs by producing the most accurate, repeatable fluid deposits possible. Optimum syringe barrels are available in 3, 5, 10, 30 and 55cc capacities, and optimum cartridges are available in 2.5 oz (74ml), 6 oz (177ml), 12 oz (355ml), and 20 oz (591ml) capacities.

EFD provides application-based specialised solder products, complete paste dispensing solutions and develops supportive technical partnerships with customers to deliver consistent and reliable solder joints that improve yields and reduce costs in electronics and electro-mechanical assembly processes. The Solder Paste Group is a four-time recipient of Circuits Assembly's Service Excellence Awards for providing superior service and support in the electronic assembly industry.

Contact lubrication systems like pads and rollers can be difficult to regulate, are easily contaminated, and often require significant maintenance. The MicroCoat is a different type of stock lubrication system that lets metal stampers apply exactly the right amount of oil for each job. It is a noncontact system that applies oil as a fine, consistent film that provides complete coverage using much less oil. EFD's sales and service facilities are available in over 30 countries through a network of local offices and authorised distributors.
